ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We thank God for the land he created, and we acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, the Tharawal people, who were put in charge of it. We will respect it and look after it too.

BELIEFS

As a Christian preschool, the staff and management committee acknowledge that it is God who enables us to achieve our goals. Christian values are shared through staff knowledge, and the sharing of stories and songs. Assistance is available to families, if require, by one of the pastors of Campbelltown City Baptist Church and participation in church activities is always welcome.

BELONGING, BEING AND BECOMING

In the first five years of life, children develop ethics and values that stay with them for the rest of their lives. At The Guardian Angel Preschool we believe in providing a loving, caring and nurturing environment is imperative and encourages a real sense of belonging.

PARTNERSHIPS

We believe communication between all stakeholders is vital to providing a happy, nurturing environment. It is our belief that families and the community at large play an integral part in the child’s care and development. Parent participation and involvement is an important aspect of the overall programme and planning process. It is essential to maintain continuity between the home, the community and the centre, to give the children a sense of belonging. We endeavour to involve parents to ensure a collaborative approach to the overall development of each child’s experience within the programme.

CULTURES

The cultural diversity of our families is an aspect we respect and value. Our commitment to equity dictates that all children have the right to reach their full potential, regardless of gender, age, ability, ethnicity or religion. Children are shaped by many different events and circumstances and entitled to be treated with respect. We recognise that our country has a proud Aboriginal history, stretching back many years, and we pay our respects to the traditional landowners the Tharawal people.

PROGRAMME

At The Guardian angel Preschool, we embrace a holistic child-led, play-based programme which incorporates the Early Years Learning Framework. Play enables children to explore and discover the world around them, to explore ideas, to create, to communicate and to work co-operatively with their peers. Our early childhood educators work as a team to provide an educational programme that caters for children’s individual needs. We recognise that children are confident and competent learners who are connected to and contribute to their world. Educators support and guide children’s play and provide positive learning experiences through role modelling planned and spontaneous opportunities in both individual interactions and group activities. Children’s interests, needs and experiences are imperative to our programme and support services are available to children and their families for individual care needs. Educators participate in ongoing professional development to extend their knowledge of best practice in children’s services.

SUSTAINABILITIY

At The Guardian Angel Preschool we endeavour to increase our awareness of environmental responsibilities and implement practices that contribute to a sustainable future. A respect for the environment influences the communications we have with the children and the activities and resources we use. Children are supported to become environmentally responsible and show respect for the environment. This is implemented through regular gardening experiences, water awareness, recycling, composting as well as collaborating with the wider community and families about sustainable practices. These sustainable practices are embedded in our daily routines and consistently promoted in our everyday programme.
